It has travelled across the world and touched three continents. Now the WSK World Series comes to an end in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt, where the world karting is meeting at the African Race in the weekend from October 28th to 31st. Therefore, it will be just the third and last round of the world karting series by WSK Promotion to award the titles in the classes Super KF, KZ2, KF2 and KF3.
Ghibli International Raceway as fast as the wind. It is the wind that blows from the Atlas Mountains, in the North African area of the Middle East. Ghibli is also a perfect name for the international circuit that rises in Sharm el Sheikh, the place famous for the exclusive resorts overlooking the Red Sea. The racetrack is long 1308 metres and is as fast as the wind that gives it the name since it is characterized by a demanding course and very long straight stretches.
Nyck de Vries in pole position to win Super KF. As for the title in the queen class Super KF, everything is still at stake. Dutch Nyck De Vries (Zanardi-Parilla-Vega) is at the top of the ranking above French Armand Convers (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) and can rely on a narrow lead for the final sprint at Ghibli Raceway. However, a 5-length lead is a slender margin if compared with the 75 points still to gain. That’s why many of the drivers in the ranking are in the running and can aspire to the title: starting with Convers’ teammate, English Ben Cooper, third in the ranking and ready to have his say. The same goes for the other British citizen Gary Catt (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) now fourth.
Ignazio D’Agosto leads the rush towards KF2 title. In KF2, there will be even more contenders in the ultimate challenge for the title since the score gap among them opens a wide range of predictions. The winner of the previous event in Millville (USA), Italian Ignazio D’Agosto (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) is at the top. It is nevertheless true that a lead of 15 points over his teammate Chris Lock is not so consistent to be certain of the result. In addition, equal second with Lock is Belgian Sebastien Bailli (Kosmic-Vortex-Vega) that mounted the podium him too in America and is ready to launch a decisive attack for the title. Not to forget Japanese Yu Kanamaru and British Luke Varley (both on a Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega) respectively fourth and fifth and prepared for the rush.
Jonathan Thonon goes for KZ2 win. Belgian Jonathan Thonon (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop) is the man to defeat in KZ2 as he leads the ranking after winning the round in Portimao (P) and Millville (USA). His teammate American Gary Carlton is chasing him and does not intend to miss any chance in Egypt. Besides, in third position with a narrow gap, there is Belgian Rick Dreezen (Tony Kart- Vortex-Dunlop) that intends to fight him too and the same does his teammate Marco Ardigò from Brescia, at fourth place.
Max Verstappen can see KF3 Title. The last word has not to be said in KF3 as well, where Dutch Max Verstappen (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop) under the supervision of his father and former F.1 driver Jos, is at the top of the ranking above Romanian Robert Visoiu (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop). Third and very close to Visoiu is Spanish Jordi Oriola (FA-Vortex-Dunlop) that anyway has to watch out for Roman Damiano Fioravanti (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop), fourth at only two-point gap.
