Success For CRG In Egypt

press release

With 4 podiums, 2 victories and 2 titles, CRG Racing Team's overall results were largely positive at the last round of the WSK World Series, in Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt). The chassis of the Italian brand together with Maxter engines proved to be in top form at the end of 2010 season, and in the 4 international categories. The heroes of the meeting were Jonathan Thonon and Max Verstappenm, who won in KZ2 in KF3, while Arnaud Kozlinski concluded with a victory a clean race in Super KF, followed by Davide Forè on the second step of the podium. Michelle Gatting had started along the same path in KF2, but then lost all her winning chances at the start of the final.

Despite some very high temperatures and a track made tricky by the presence of the desert sand, CRG proved to be the fastest brand on Sharm El Sheikh Ghibli Raceway. The very hard work of a whole year had a fantastic reward, because CRG won at least a race in all the categories. And again, a 100% CRG result was missed by a hair's breadth the night of the race.

Thonon unbeatable as usual in KZ2.
Although he was upset at the start of the meeting because he had been forced to abandon during the pre-final, Jonathan Thonon resorted to all his experience in the final race to make up for his handicap and passed the finish line as winner, despite a group of formidable rivals. After his victory in the WSK Euro Series and his successes in Portimao (P) and Millville (USA), the Belgian champion can be proud he conquered the WSK World Series title, thus confirming CRG's domination in KZ. Despite his incredible combativeness, US driver Gary Carlton had to give up in the final.

Verstappen : a new champion has been born.
After winning the WSK Euro Series, Max Verstappen did not give anybody to chance to steal the WSK World Series away from him. After intense fight for the first place, the young Dutch driver concluded the final solidly in the lead, but was stripped of victory after the race. But that did not prevent him from winning the championship. Speedy Antonio Fuoco quickly began to feel comfortable with his kart and climbed on the second step of the podium. He is also third in the general standings.

Back to the top in Super KF.
Arnaud Kozlinski had a great smile when he concluded the final race. Thanks to the constantly improving performances of his kart, he was able to fight in the lead pack just the way he likes to, and to find the way to victory again, which is what pleases him most. The French driver won as many as 5 out of 6 races during the Egyptian round, and he was able to climb to third in the general standings. As for Davide Forè, he also took full advantage of the exceptional performances of his kart to put the icing on the cake of CRG overall performance with a second place in the final.

Gatting on the Right Track.
If Michelle Gatting was disappointed, the night of the meeting, it was because she had the means to finish in beauty after a most promising season in KF2. After two victories in the heats, she brilliantly won the pre-final with outstanding style. After finishing off the track on her first turn during the final, the Danish girl could no longer take her chances. But her extraordinary performances during the meeting are certainly worth remembering.
