Vale: Luigi Macaluso

Former CIK-FIA President Luigi Macaluso passed away suddenly on October 27.

Macaluso chaired the International Karting Commission of the FIA from October 2005 to October 2009. His mandate saw the birth of the “U18” World Championship and Karting Academy Trophy concepts, which have been very successful in their first year.

The 64-year old was President and Chairman of the Sowind Group which manufactured Girard-Perregaux and JeanRichard watches. He won the European Rally Championship in 1972.
