IAME Feels Cheated At WSK Final

press release

Who: Parilla IAME powered Karts
What: WSK World Series Round III
Where: International Circuit Ghibli Raceway - Sharm el Sheikh - Egypt
When: October 28-31, 2010

THE COMMENT Andrea Bossaglia, IAME Technical Director:
“Let’s not be distracted by the sand on the track, the market on stand-by or the quality of fuel. Let’s focus on Sport and review the race: Competition on tarmac, the passion of drivers, technicians and parents, our good performance among our Opponents and the small or large contribution we have given to this Series with our consistent participation and supporting it till the end. This is the only memory I want to keep.”

Race Report
SKF
IAME wins the WSK World Series championship title on the track and then loses it on turned off engines.

Nyck De Vries (Zanardi/Parilla), who led the overall ranking, races for the title in the last round. In the qualifiers he is 1st. Then come the unfortunate heats: he wins the first (with the best lap time), in the second a contact pushes him down the field (9th) and in the third he breaks the spark plug. In the pre-final he is 8th on the grid and, clocking up the best lap time, he finishes 4th. In the final De Vries finishes 2nd and wins the championship title. After the race, however, he is disqualified: “improper conduct during the starting procedure”.

De Vries and IAME hence drop to second place in the overall ranking. Gromanova and Groman (both Maranello/Parilla) performed well: Gromanova improves throughout the weekend and finishes 8th both in
the final race and in the championship ranking.

Groman performs well in the heats (5th, 3rd,7th), he is 4th on the starting grid of the pre-final, where he finishes 6th and in the final he takes home an excellent 5th place.

KF2
Vukan Vusurovic (DR/Parilla) shows great consistency and qualifies in 10th place for the pre-final. Here he has a technical problem but makes a good comeback in the final, finishing in 9th place with lap times as fast as the leaders.

KF3
Two Parilla drivers on the track: Mattia Vita and Alice Brasseur (both DR/Parilla). Vita is fast in the heats (7th, 5th, 13th) and is 8th in the prefinal. Here, he races well and finishes 4th, then in the final he crosses the line in 6th place. In the overall ranking despite having missed one round of the series, he is just one position outside the top ten (11th). Brasseur is consistent in the heats (13th, 12th, and 8th), but in the pre-final she has problems staying up front with the leaders and finishes 13th. In the final she does very well and finishes in 8th place, which puts her in 13th position in the overall ranking.

KF ALWAYS IN TIP-TOP FORM

IAME’s PARILLA REEDSTER2 ENGINE had a leading role during the WSK World Series. There are 3 versions of this engine: KF3, KF2 and SKF. They differ in volume of the combustion chamber, the carburettor, the exhaust system, the presence of the power valve and the limiter: they range from 14,000 rpm for the KF3 to 16,000 rpm for the SKF. The technical innovations, compared to the previous version, refer to the cooling system, the power valve and the crankcase with a horizontal reed valve. These innovations have led to an increase in performance especially at bottom end, which generate a broader power delivery curve: therefore, higher performance and easy driving.
