Buildline #9 Win TEKA Eastern Creek

press release

Unfinished business….now finished at Eastern Creek with help of Tracksa

Tracksa track safety lighting systems joined forces with TEKA to bring us the race that had to happen. The epic night race stopped earlier in the year due to fog would now be completed, much to the excitement of all teams involved.

Some came to conquer, others came for the sheer joy of running through the night on the countries longest kart track!

The entry list was huge with competitive fields in all three classes Briggs, Honda A, and B.

As the night drew near the pits were chock-a-block and karts began warming up the engines, the smell of racing was in the air.

In the top category Kinetic #51 were the early pace setters in practice followed by Buildline #9 and XLR8 #30. Dynamite #27 were still coming to terms with their hire (all be it very good) kart driving into 5th place on the time sheets.

Honda A grade saw WAR #35 take an early lead followed by Redback #888 and the Factory Tracksa Team #44 who were dialing in the kart and only getting quicker! In B grade saw the very quick Hellrazor team #666 well ahead with GTS #41 and Awesome Threesome #10 and Starkey #46 following.

Qualifying saw Buildine #9 absolutely demoralize the rest driving their Phoenix into pole position. Doing a good job of wrestling their loaner kart onto the front row along side their team mates was Dynamite #27. The second row filled by Kinetic #51 and XLR8 #30 with Grey Ghost just behind in their new chassis and only getting quicker.

In the Honda class The Tracksa team #44 smoked the opposition after getting a handle on their kart to take first spot, Focus #5 led by Peter Pipe Smoker Brian into second followed closely by Redback #888.

Come the start of the race it was a spectacular scene to see the start grid stretch way back along the straight and nearly around the corner.

Racing underway and the crowd watches in anticipation, good behaviour and all settle into a good rhythm for the next 7.5hrs.

Close racing was seen throughout the race with many close battles continuing through the night. As the sun rose after what felt more like a 24hr the best teams would prevail. Buildline #9 had the speed all night and a faultless run to take outright honors, keeping them honest right to the last stint was Dynamite #27 (later penalized for driving over the hour).

WAR #35 lead home the Hondas followed by Blatt #49, two usual suspects! Driving a great race into 3rd position were part timers Redback Racing #888, behind them Starkey also part tmers in our series! Well done to Benchwarmers #111 having their first race together in B grade with a average age of 16 into 5th outright in the Honda class.

Other notables Hope to Finish #75 (and they did), and Uni Filter doing a great job in the top 20, SBT #767 after an absence having a great run not far behind. SIS #515 one of their best performances high up the order in a tough race and Grey Ghost 2 the most competitive we’ve seen the challenging for the podium through most of the night. The new boys hiring Grey Ghost 3 also did extremely well bring the kart home strong and in one piece.

The Grand Finale at Newcastle and the 2011 series will see some of the best Endurance Racing available for you to take part.
