HEAT WIN FOR CROSS AS KIWIS IMPRESS EARLY AT ROTAX WORLD FINAL (HEATS 1 & 2)

Rangiora driver Hamish Cross continued to spearhead the Kiwi charge on the first heats day at the 2010 Rotax Max Grand Final event in Italy overnight (NZ time), finishing third in his first DD2 Masters class race then winning his second.

Fellow Mainlander Matthew Hamilton was next best, with two fourth place finishes in DD2, then came Josh Hart who was fifth in the first Senior Max heat and second in the second, Niki Urwin who was 17th in the first DD2 Masters heat and 19th in the second, and young gun Andy Schofield who slipped back from 13th to 31st in his first Junior Max heat after a spin but fought back to claim an impressive 6th place in the second.

The heat results came on top of a great set of qualifying times with Cross second in DD2 Masters, Hart fourth in Senior Max, Hamilton seventh in DD2, Urwin 17th in DD2 Masters and Andy Schofield 49th in Junior Max.

BRAY & SWETMAN QUALIFY WELL AT LAS VEGAS SUPERNATS

Rotax Max category kart racers Hamish Cross et al are not the only New Zealand drivers doing well on the international stage this weekend; word just through that Auckland's Daniel Bray and the Bay of Plenty's Mark Swetman have claimed top ten qualifying spots at the annual SKUSA SuperNationals meeting in the United States.

Competing in the blue riband S1 Pro Stock Moto class at the event, Bray qualified fourth overall. Swetman, meanwhile, topped his qualifying group in S4 Masters.
