4 x Aussies In Malaysia

Last weekend was a big one for Australians competing overseas. This weekend, the Aussies Overseas flavour continues with four Queenland karters competing at a Yamaha SL World Challenge event in Malaysia (plus two at the WSK event in Italy - see seperate article).

Harrison Oddie (Midget), Harrison Hoey (Midget), Zane Goddard (Rookie) and Kris Walton (Senior) are racing at the Elite Speedway Plus in Selangor. Their participation has largely been organised by Ralph van Doorn who spends considerable time in Malaysian karting circles.

The three youngsters will be competing together in the Cadet Class (8 to 12 year olds) while Walton will race in the Senior class.

The event utilises brand new Birel karts fitted with new Yamaha S engines and Bridgestone tyres.

"Yesterday (Thursday) was spent getting the karts put together, then a couple of practice sessions" Alison Oddie informed KartSportNews.

Four x 25 minute practice sessions were held on Friday, qualifying is today followed by racing. The Finals are on Sunday afternoon.

(An article on Harrison Oddie heading to the event was published in the Gympie Times a few months back - click HERE to have a read)
