Pro Tour Tightens Tyre Checks

New tyre procedures aimed at ensuring a level playing field have been announced for the 2011 Rotax Pro Tour.

IKD is purchasing a Photo Ionisation Detector (tyre sniffer) that complies with the new AKA regulations. Tyres will be checked regularly by an official at all Rotax Pro Tour events for illegal tyre treatments.

“There is constant talk and innuendo in the pits about people allegedly using tyre treatment" Ian Black from IKD informed KartSportNews. "If anyone actually has been using it, they would be mad to try and use it at the Rotax Pro Tour next year because they will be caught.”

IKD will also be using the MOJO Tyre Management Software which includes bar code scanning of tyres at all events in 2011 to ensure that each and every competitor only uses the one set of tyres for the duration of the event.

“This is a big step forward for the Rotax Pro Tour. Tyres will be ‘sniffed’ and scanned constantly at random throughout each event. Tyre treatment and swapping of tyres during the event will be a thing of the past,” Black continued.

The 2011 Rotax Pro Tour kicks off the Todd Rd track in Melbourne on January 28/29/30th…be there!

There are many benefits of the Rotax Pro Tour:-
