Tomar Clutch Advice

DPE has relased the following information regarding removal of spacers from the Tomar clutch:

We have heard of talk in recent times that some people are changing/removing the spacers on Tomar TD-22 AKA clutches.

We need to advise very strongly that this practice will cause two major issues and anyone involved in this practice must be made aware of these.

1. Removing or changing the spacers raises the engagement speed of the clutch, far above the RPMs it was designed to engage at. This will most likely cause you to fail the AKA clutch test, which may result in disqualification and or suspension of your AKA licence.

2. The wear rate of the clutch pressure plate will increase hugely if the spacers are changed /removed as it was not designed for this.

The Tomar TD-22 AKA clutch has been specifically designed to meet the AKA’s clutch rules and is, in our opinion by far the best clutch on the market. Modifying it in any way to circumvent the AKA rules will result in the above two problems.

The AKA is aware of this issue and they will be checking the clutches more frequently for the removal/replacement of the washers.

If you have any questions regarding this issue, or need any information about Tomar clutches please email us at sales@dpeng.com.au or phone (03) 8558 4040

Best Regards
