Seven positions for karters are on offer while four National Formula Ford competitors will be chosen. The program will be for the duration of 2011 before an end of year review will be conducted prior to the 2012 racing season.

The successful candidates will receive lucrative ‘Cool’ Driver contracts and financial assistance to boost their career development plans.  In addition to a bonus payment scheme for winning results in major races and titles, the best performing Karter will receive an opportunity to test with a National Formula Ford team. The Formula Ford drivers will be competing for a V8 Supercar test with the Fujitsu sponsored Garry Rogers Motorsport operation.

Karters thinking of applying will need to be 12 years of age or older as at 1 Janaury 2011. All eligible karters must contest at least the State Championship within their State of residence and ideally the National Karting Championships within the calendar year of support.

The program includes specific race vehicle branding, driver merchandise and performance related bonuses.

“We embarked on a youth development program at the start of this year and we’re now looking at the next bunch of young superstars hoping to carve out a career in professional motorsport" said Fujitsu General’s Deputy Managing Director, Philip Perham.

"The Fujitsu ‘Cool’ Driver Program is the perfect vehicle to evaluate the next crop of youngsters and I’m sure it will be well received from competitors, categories, the media and fans.”
