Kartsport Southland Upgrade Takes Shape

press release

The hardworking team at Kartsport Southland have been toiling week in week out to get track, grounds and facilities ready for the upcoming 2011 Nationals being held in Easter.

All work on the new track extension has been completed except for painting the edges and acceleration lines etc, and once, club spokesman Daryl Shuttleworth says, Southland gets some rain, 'which believe it or not, we are not getting much of at the moment, the grass will grow and the track will look a picture.'

New flag points are well underway with one already on place in the new corner, and the club will have new crash bags in place with these. Grass is growing well in the extended pits area, and the new impound area is also almost complete.

The big project at the moment is the brand new clubrooms and deck area right beside the main straight.

A few of the club members have taken time off work this week to get the frames & trusses up, and at last reports the building was wrapped and the roof was going on.

Major contributors to this project have been ILT Foundation, The Community Trust Of Southland, and Arrow International. Work will continue at the track over the Christmas period, with the first race meeting for the new year scheduled for January 30th.
