Vic Junior Rotax Superkart Series Delayed

The Victorian Superkart club has delayed the start of the 2011 Junior Rotax Championship. Originally scheduled for February 12, it will now start on July 9 at the world class Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit.

“Basically, time was against us in getting the first round off the ground so early in the year as part of our usual club series” said organiser Rod Clarke.

“Having to get CAMS licences and log books arranged over the Christmas break became difficult with so many people away on holidays. It also gives the club more time to better promote and improve the series.”

“There is no easier way to obtain a CAMS licence and get long circuit experience than this series” said VSKC President Rolf Greve.

“Juniors will contest the series over four rounds, with three at Phillip Island and one at Sandown. The opportunity also exists to race at Calder and Winton, with the possibility of an optional Nationals event during the year.”

Prizes for the Championship include a fully funded scholarship to the A.I.S. in Canberra in 2012 plus a Formula Ford test drive provided by major sponsor, the Australian Motorsport Foundation.

The Victorian Superkart Club will arrange everything for the entrant; all the karter needs to do is fill in the paperwork, get the CAMS medical, change the gearing and fit a rain light to their kart.
