Debut Win For Arrow's New X1-E

press release

The first Rotax Pro Tour event of 2011 was held in scorching conditions at the Todd Rd Karting Complex on the 29th and 30th of January. Arrow launched their new chassis, the ‘X1-E’, at this event and claimed a double podium with a first in the premier Rotax Light class and third in Junior Max Light.

The factory Arrow driver started the weekend on a high by setting a new lap record for the class with fellow X1-E driver and recent Senior’s graduate Brad Jenner right on his tail in second position.

Other Arrow drivers featuring in the top five throughout the weekend were Jaymee Frampton and Luke Rochford.

The win came at a great time with the announcement that global freighting company Hellman Worldwide Logistics would be sponsoring the factory Arrow team throughout the 2011 season.

Joseph Mawson continued where he left off in 2010, winning Junior Max Light after facing strong opposition all weekend from fellow Arrow pilot Liam Morey in the X1-E.

Morey made a welcome return to karting, qualifying in second position before going head-to-head with Mawson in the pre final and final. In the end, Mawson’s experience shone through, but Morey was very impressive in his debut in the new chassis claiming third.

Brother’s Matthew and Liam McLellan were also very impressive all weekend in JMAX Light, running inside the top five for the majority of the event. Matthew eventually finished fourth in only his second race in the class with younger brother Liam finishing just outside the top ten after an early race altercation.

Arrow drivers were well represented in Rotax Heavy with Zeke Edwards, Brendan Nelson and Daniel Stein all finishing inside the top ten after incidents at different stages in the weekend halted their chances of podium positions.

Rotax World Challenge representatives, Kyle Ensbey and Brinley Gread put in solid performances to capture second and third respectively in the DD2 class. After having solid years in 2010, the boys will look to go one better when the Pro Tour goes to Dubbo for Round Two later in March.

Arrow Karts claimed its third win at the event when Mitchell Kennedy took a fine win in Junior Max Heavy. Kennedy looked at ease in the sweltering conditions, clearing out to win the final by over four seconds to his nearest rival.

The team at Arrow Racing Karts would like to congratulate all who contributed to the outstanding results at Pro Tour Round One. We thank you for your support and look forward to continued success throughout the 2011 racing season.
