Strongman Grabs 3rd In High Drama JNL Final

press release

Junior National Light saw a huge field of 29 karters, with one of the best races on the day being the Junior National Light final.

Jake Klein started on pole and following him were James Golding, Justin Black, Jake Dixon, and Mitch Wilson rounded up the first five starters.

Race favourite Damon Strongman found himself starting out of position 15 after receiving a huge shunt from behind, which sent him back to last, in the pre-final.

When the lights went green the first five took off with a clean break from the rest of the field, with positions changing almost every lap.  About halfway through the twelve lap final Golding and Klein pulled slightly from the other three with Mitch Wilson, Justin Black and Jake Dixon dropping off slightly, while Damon Strongman was rocketing through the field picking them off sometimes two at a time at the end of the straight, and in doing so fired off the fastest lap of the race, and also the fastest lap of the weekend.

On the final lap heading to the chequered flag Jake Dixon and Justin Black had a coming together at pit entry corner and on the second last corner Jake Klein, James Golding and Mitch Wilson got tangled up just as Will Hawkes, Justin Francis and the Karcher sponsored Arrow of Damon Strongman came across the line in first, second and third respectively, with only one tenth of a second separating them.

Damon Strongman would like to thank Karcher Australia, Adam Macrow Racing, Arrow Australia and the Eastern Lions club for putting on a great event.
