Sportsman For Southern City Classic

Due to the change of classes by the AKA/NKC, the Oakleigh Go Kart Racing club has decided to be one of the first clubs to get the Sportsman class up and running in Victoria.

"We at OGKRC fully back the Sportsman class for the smaller open meetings and club day racing" club President Adam Bourke informed KartSportNews.

"We believe it will bring back the larger fields and encourage the 125 Restricted driver to move up. I believe this will be the first race meeting where the new class is to be run. What better way to test your MG Reds with the 125cc motors than at Oakleigh and over two races with lots of laps.

"While it is a late decision to change the line up of classes, we hope that karters will see the benefit and come and race."

The event will be running the Junior Top Guns format that has worked so well over the years of qualifying then one heat and a final of 25 laps.

"There will be prizes on offer for the two Sportsman classes (Light 160kg and Heavy 180kg), including 3 sets of tyres for each class."

The meeting runs April 9. Supp Regs on the Race Calendar page HERE.
