Another State Championship for Mawson

After a stunning result at the Rotax Pro Tour in Dubbo, Joey Mawson has yet again made history at Round 2 of the CIK Stars of Karting Series at Bolivar. Despite finishing 2nd in the final, he has clinched the SA State Championship for the KF3 category.

Joey said following the weekend, “it was a great weekend to end up with 2nd in the final to still claim the South Australian state championship in KF3.” Finishing 2nd to WA’s Jake Klarich, Joey led the first 13 laps of the final race, after sticking in top 3 throughout all the sessions across Saturday and Sunday, and impressing many onlookers.

Not only was this the 13th State Championship win for Mawson, 15, but he has now clinched every a State championship in every Junior Karting category in Australia, being, Junior National Light, Junior National Heavy, Junior Clubman, Junior Max and now, KF3 for the first time.

“Overall, it was a very good weekend, and I’m very happy with my results”, said Joey after the event. Further, he is very much looking forward to campaigning his #96 TopKart at Round 3 of the CIK Series at Todd Road, Victoria in June, where Joey is very confident of yet another strong result.

The next event for Joseph will be the Sprint Kart Nationals taking place at Cockburn Raceway in Western Australia on April 22-24.
