Dropped Chain Costs Kiwi Junior CIK Top 6

press release

Reigning CIK Trophy of New Zealand - presented by Paymark title holder Aaron Marr (KF3) was unlucky not to claim another top six finish in the KF3 class at the second round of Australia's CIK Stars of Karting series at South Australia's Bolivar Raceway over the April 02-03 weekend.

Marr, 15, from Wanganui qualified fifth and finished sixth in the Pro Junior (KF3) class at the opening round of the 2011 series at Ipswich in Queensland in February and was in fifth place in the Pro Junior Final at Bolivar when he rode a kerb and lost a chain.

Earlier in the weekend  he finished sixth, fifth and seventh respectively in the three heats and seventh in the Pre-Final.

Despite the dnf in the Final the young Kiwi is seventh overall in the class points standings with 97 points just 56 behind class leader Pierce Lehane.

The weekend's Finals were won by David Sera (KZ2), Jake Spencer (KF1) and Jake Klarich (KF3).

Marr's focus is now on the Speedy Signs 2011 KartSport New Zealand National Sprint Championship meeting in Invercargill over the Easter weekend.

His next appointment on the other side of the Tasman, meanwhile, is the third round of the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series in Melbourne over the June 18/19 weekend.
