Phillpott Firing After Promotion To Rotax Ranks

press release

After a successful introduction to the world of motorsport in Junior Clubman, Murray Bridge’s Michael Phillpott has this year stepped up into the Rotax classes of Junior Karting, and the promise he showed in the past, has become accustomed to him in performances that are now becoming synonymous to his name.

In preparation for the South Australian State Closed Karting Championships this weekend at Monarto, Michael has had some serious off-season testing in order to prepare himself for the big year ahead.

Phillpott said ahead of the weekend’s events; “after only stepping up into the Rotax classes at the conclusion of 2010 from Junior Clubman, I have surprised myself with my results so far this year in my first full season of Rotax. I feel very confident entering the 2011 South Australian State Closed Championships as I know I will have kart performance with the guidance of a strong support crew.”

"The off season testing and modifications to the new chassis have paid off with consistent results putting me on the podium five times out of six race meetings.”

Already early on in the season, Michael has achieved some excellent results. He is backed up by a new sponsor supporting the team, Farm Fresh Market, who join Murray Bridge Backpackers, Thanks Maynard, Crystal Paving and Adelaide Kart Supplies in assisting the 17-year old.

Being entered in two individual state championships, in two separate categories, combined with a hefty Year 12 workload means Phillpott must remain dedicated and determined to achieve success. This could not have happened without the immense support of Michael Yeo in mentoring Phillpott, and assisting in the mechanics.

After completing just six meetings, with five podium results tied in, Michael sits second in both the Sportsman 125 Light Class and Rotax Light class in the Pro Series heading into the State Titles.

With the Sportsman Kart, Michael states, “I am very pleased with my Rotax performance against the Leopard engines.”

The South Australian Closed State Kart Titles occur on May 14 and 15 at Monarto Raceway.
