The machine was built by German forklift manufacturer Linde Material Handling, one of the largest forklift companies in the world. The record was set last month at Oschersleben, driven by Andreas Wolf.

The 3.4s time puts the kart in the same acceleration bracket as a Pagani Zonda and Lamborghini Gallardo, and about on par with a KZ kart.

Former Mildura karter Jarod Waters provided KartSportNews with these pictures, taken by his father Chris, who was taking in the Hannover Material Handling Equipment Fair as part of a recent business trip.

"On the Linde site was their electric go-kart" Jarod informed KartSportNews. "It uses a CRG chassis and Lithium Ion batteries."

Photos and a report from the record setting day are on the Guiness World Record site HERE.

The Linde kart actually established this time as the record benchmark for this new record category. This sphere of technology is rapidly advancing, so it will be interesting to see when this record is broken, and who does it.

Linde are world renowned for their technology and one of the most advanced forklifts on the market. Linde Material Handling Australia also sponsor ex go-karter Cameron Waters in the Australian Formula Ford Championship.
