Rain Strikes WSK Master Series Roundpress release Changes in the rankings of the WSK Master Series after Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex KZ1), Lundberg (Tony Kart-Vortex KZ2), Giovinazzi (PCR-Parilla KF2), Fuoco (Top Kart-TM KF3) and Haxhiu’s (Hero-LKE 60 Mini) win in the races in Val Vibrata last month. New challenges at the halfway point of 2011 season in Val Vibrata. The rain fallen over the circuit in Sant’Egidio alla Vibrata (Teramo, Italy) contributed to inflame further all the races for the classes competing at the WSK Master Series. After the third of the five rounds planned in the current season, the rankings are still open and don’t disclose yet the outright candidate for the crowning win.
Marco Ardigò back to the top in KZ1. When the classes KZ1 and KZ2 were already in formation and ready to take the start, a sudden rain forced everybody to mount rain tyres. Changing the situation, Sauro Cesetti (Birel-BMB- Dunlop) made full use of his kart in Final 2 and adding a touch of true class he was in the lead for long in KZ1. His strongest adversary Marco Ardigò (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) succeeded in snatching the leadership from him in the last laps and assured victory. Alessandro Piccini (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) was equally good in recovering from mid-ranking up to third place. In the ranking, Ardigò is now at the top after passing Paolo De Conto (Energy-TM-Dunlop) by only two points. Despite supremacy in the previous stage, the latter concluded Final 2 quite late. Douglas Lundberg wins in the wet in KZ2. In the same race crowning Ardigò, class KZ2 was dominated by Swedish Douglas Lundberg (Tony Kart-Vortex-Dunlop) being the leading driver throughout the race. Croatian Kristijan Habulin (CRG-Maxter-Dunlop) achieved the second place withstanding championship’s leader Marco Zanchetta (CKR-TM-Dunlop). Finishing third, the latter consolidates his leadership in the ranking, above Alfredo Delli Compagni from Teramo that achieved an important tenth place once recovered from the last row.
Antonio Giovinazzi new leader in KZ2. Antonio Giovinazzi (PCR-Parilla-Vega) got a full haul: the driver from Taranto, Italy showed all his talent in Val Vibrata both in Pre-final that he won at the end of an exciting duel for the leadership and in Final that he completely dominated in the wet. Both times, he defended his result from a resolute Damiano Fioravanti (Tony Kart-Vortex-Vega). Roman driver moves up to third place in the ranking thanks to a double second place in Val Vibrata. In the race on the contrary, Stefano Cucco (Birel-Parilla-Vega) finished third at the end of a hard run. The driver from Biella leaves the lead just to Giovinazzi that is the new KF2 leader in the provisional ranking.
A great day for Antonio Fuoco in KF3. With Antonio Fuoco’s double win (Top Kart-TM-Vega), the races in Val Vibrata changed the ranking of the WSK Master Series in KF3 as well. After winning Pre-final, the driver from Cariati, Italy fought hard in the wet against Swedish Robin Hansson (Energy-TM-Vega) and after swapping places several times he prevailed at last. Good Brasilian Thiago Vivacqua (Energy-TM-Vega) concluded third. Fuoco is now at the top of the ranking above Hansson in second position.
Gjergj Haxhiu leads 60 Mini pack. In the much attended youngest class (63 drivers from 28 Countries), Russian Robert Shwartzman (Birel-LKE-Vega) and Romanian Marcu Dionisios (Top Kart-LKE-Vega) won the two Pre-finals. In the afternoon final, Dionisios attempted to take again the lead but he was forced to leave the leadership to Swiss Gjergj Haxhiu (Hero-LKE-Vega) due to a penalty at the start. It was a good day for Turkish Berkay Besler (Top Kart-LKE-Vega) and Alessio Lorandi from Brescia too, respectively second and third.
