Indonesian Discovers European Kart Racing

press release

A newcomer to kart racing, young Indonesian Sean Gelael has landed to Europe with some solid argument including, on top of the list, his desire to learn and understand. Asia Pacific KF2 Champion in 2010, he is now facing the best drivers in the world to take on a major challenge. Always smiling and determined, Sean will certainly be able to take advantage of this extraordinary experience.

When he entered the WSK Euro Series arena in Sarno, one of the most prestigious events, Sean Gelael did not have any previous European experience, apart from a short training race at the wheel of his Kart/Vortex. Despite all the good will in the world, it was impossible for him in these conditions to conquer a place in the final. But Sean did not cut a poor figure, on the contrary, and set the 27th time out of 65 entered drivers in time qualifying. His first final came a bit later, at the prestigious Trofeo Andrea Margutti, with a 13th place on the start grid.

Sean-GP.jpgSean learns quickly, that's how he is: he wants to understand, to correct his mistakes, without looking for excuses. He can count on his own team, Sean GP, which also includes other drivers, surrounded by reputed professionals such as Renato Merlin and followed by his coach Jean-Philippe Guignet, former kart champion who does not hesitate to get back behind the wheel to set the example for his protégé. But it is evidently Sean, all alone, who does the job and launches his attacks on track with great determination.

The qualifying round of the European KF2 Championship, a very difficult meeting, was held in England in early May. Sean Gelael was very close to an extraordinary performance but he lost his spoiler in the confusion before arrival and was forced to return to the stands just when he had the qualification in his pocket. But Sean does not get discouraged easily and he started preparing immediately for other goals, as proven by his recent results during the WSK Master Series in Val Vibrata.

Thanks to his extraordinary skills, Sean Gelael has attracted the interest of some important partners who support him in karting. In particular he is supported by Coca-Cola through the Amatil company, a major beverage supplier in Oceania, which has integrated him in its young driver supporting programme, and also by KFC Indonesia. He perfectly embodies the dynamism of a country that looks to the future, Indonesia.

Passionate for car racing, Sean wishes to become a professional car racing driver after learning the ropes in karting, and without going too far too fast, with his natural pragmatic attitude. For the time being, he is looking forward to continuing in Europe, which he appreciates more and more, with a busy programme of international races including the WSK Euro Series, before other important international meetings at the end of the season. Meanwhile, Sean continues his tests on single-seaters to get ready for his future debut in car racing.
