Wall Wins Racer Hard Charger Awardpress release Statistics and championship points after Round Three Reigning Pro Gearbox (KZ2) Champion Matthew Wall secured the Racer Inc. Hard Charger Award for Round Three of the 2011 CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE. After failing to finish the opening final at Port Melbourne last weekend, Wall (right, AF Images) charged from 25th on the grid to salvage an eighth place finish in the final 27-lap main event to win a merchandise pack provided by Racer Inc. “I had an engine issue in the opening final which meant I had to start from way back in the second final,” said Wall. “From there I really had to gain as many spots as possible, without taking too many risks, to make sure I stayed in the chase for the championship. It’s a nice bonus to get the Racer Hard Charger Award at the same time.” Another driver who put in a stunning display with a charge from 21st on the grid to fifth place in Pro Light (KF1) was Gillard driver Daniel Rochford. The Melbourne driver has shown in his two starts at the top level of the sport that he will be a serious contender for victory in the remaining rounds.
