Second Attempt At NSW Speedway Round 2

press release

This Sunday, 3rd July, will be the second attempt to run Round 2 of the 2011 NSWSKC Championship season.

Previously scheduled to race on the 6th March, this meeting was washed out as Mother Nature unleashed torrential rain on the Nepean circuit.

However the forecast looks great for the weekend therefore the 7th Annual “Nepean Open”, this year proudly sponsored by the Narellan-based Karting World organisation in partnership with the family-run Sayre Racing Team, should go ahead without any issues.

The  Karting World business has been a sponsor of the Club for quite some time and supports many members of the speedway karting fraternity along with the NSWSKC.

The Sayre family is a long time member of the NSWSKC and has 3 boys racing very successfully with the Club, featuring on the podium at most meetings.

As a family they are putting back into the sport and Club they enjoy so much and the NSWSKC is the beneficiary of this and it is greatly appreciated by the members.

Apart from the early season washouts, the Club has had one of the best starts to a season with 80 plus karters taking part in the race meetings conducted so far.

Over the past months extensive work has been done refining the Nepean circuit and drivers are experiencing some exciting racing on the super fast surface. It is expected that this meeting will again attract good fields in all classes and should provide some great speedway action.

Last weekend at the Gosford Showground  the NSW Titles were run and the meeting this weekend will see newly crowned Rookie Champion Luke Sayre, Junior Light Champion Daniel Sayre, KT Heavy Champion Wayne Baines, KT Light and Clubman Light Champion Dan Morris and 0-125 Champion Donald Stevens all in action as they strive to follow up the successes achieved at the Titles.

Focus will be on the two midget drivers, Kaidon Brown and Jake Donaldson, as they go into this race meeting leading the Club Championship after 3 completed rounds. These two young stars of the future are the class of the field and their on-track battles are great to watch.  They are so evenly matched that either driver, on the day, can walk away with victory further extending his point lead over the rest of the Club.

This weekend will be no different to the excellent speedway action that has been displayed in the first 3 meetings and it will be well worth the drive to Castlereagh to witness the exciting kart racing at the Rickards Road complex.

Racing commences at 10am and the 32 event programme is scheduled to be completed by 3pm, at which time everyone is invited to be a part of the trophy presentations to the meeting’s victors.

An excellent canteen facility is available for all your eating and drinking needs, so if you are a speedway fan come out to Nepean on Sunday and watch some grass roots speedway action.

The NSWSKC would like to acknowledge and thank all their corporate partners for their continued support throughout 2011.
