Italian Championships, Round 3

A great agonistic spectacle increased further the value of the Italian CSAI Kartingchampionship in occasion of the third round of the season on the International Circuit of Viterbo. After a rainy Saturday, sun came out again on the 1300 meters of the circuit and all the 157 had the chance to fight for the victory in the corresponding classes without having to face a wet tarmac.

At the end of the four finals of the morning and the finals two of the afternoon (live on Nuvolari TV), Fabian Federer (winner of race-2 after thefourth place in race-1) in KZ2, Alessio Santilli (winner of race -2 and second in race-1) in KF2, Federico Pezzolla (winner of race-2 and third in race-1) in KF3 managed to get the most out of the weekend classification-wise.

In 60 Mini once again the Romanian Marcu Dionisios was on the spotlight with a double victory but the classification is still led by Remigio Garofano after the seventh place in race-1 and the fourth in race-2.

In the highest class, the KZ2, the victory of race-1 went to Marco Zanchetta (Ckr-Tm), followed by a very good Yannick De Brabander (Parolin-Tm) and histeam mate Antonio Piccioni, while Federer ended fourth. In race-2 Federer managed to get the lead of the race early but in the last part of the race he had to struggle a bit to keep De Brabander behind. Thanks to this victory, the new KZ2 European Champion managed to pull away in the classification (152 points) and secured a good margin to Bressan (118), Piccioni (98) and De Brabander (93).

In KF2 Gianni Vigorito (Birel-Bmb) won race-1 ahead of the Italian reigningchampion Alessio Santilli (Intrepid-Tm) and Alberto Di Folco (Tony Kart-Vortex). In the first race an accident at the start happened and saw Matteo Gasparrini and Nicola Marcon rolling over twice on their Tony Kart-Vortex. Gasparrini broke his right collarbone while Marcon sustained aslight head injury.

The two had a contact in the main straight with Gasparrini's kart was closed by Marcon on the left and Cinti on the right, flew over Marcon causing the two of them to roll over.

Santilli won race-2 with full merit, ahead of Vigorito pushed a bit on the back in the first part of the race. Roberto Manduchi (Parolin-Tm) ended third. Vigorito pulled away in the championship with 34 points advantage to Santilli and got back to the thirdplace.

In KF3 race-1's victory went to a combactive Mattia Vita (DR-Parilla), followed by Nicolò Balsamo (Birel-Bmb) and Federico Pezzolla (Intrepid-Tm). The latter recovered in the final two winning despite the recover of Mattia that crossed the finish line with a gap of three tenths only. The third place was obtained by Lorenzo Paggi (Tony Kart-Tm).

Remarkable was the debut of the Japanese of the official CRG Jinya Yamakawa that obtained the eighth final place exploiting the help of an "exceptional assistant", the 5 times world champion Davide Forè.

In this occasion Luca Corberi (Tony Kart-Vortex) was not among the protagonists of the category and despite still holding the second place of the classification the Italian driver finished race-1 only in sixteenth and race-2 in thirteenth. In the championship Pezzolla pulled away with 61 points to Corberi.

In 60 Mini Marcu Dionisios won both races. In race-1 the strong Romanian driver finished ahead of the Turkish Besler Berkay and the Swedish Otto Tjader (all on Top Kart-Lke).

In race-2 Luigi Angelillo (Top Kart-Parilla)managed to finish second, ahead of the Swiss Gjergj Haxhiu (Hero-Lke).

Garofano is still leading the championship with 52 points of advantage to Lorenzo Travisanutto (Tony Kart-Lke) who ended in the back due to a contactwith Hugo Hakkinen (Crg-Lke).

The next rounds of the championship are: Lonato (Brescia) 7 August, Sant´Egidio alla Vibrata (Teramo) next 28 August and Ortona (Chieti) 2 October.
