Former Karter Wins Wingless Sprintcar Award

The former Victorian Clubman Heavy driver Chris Halesworth, who was 2009 Tasmanian Open winner, has taken out the Victorian Wingless Sprintcar Rookie of the Year award, at an annual presentation night held at the Geelong Mecure Hotel.

In what has been a mostly succsesful season, Chris has had many top three heat race finishes and even qualified on pole for an A feature at Simpson Speedway, only to have a tyre cut down while lapping slower cars.

While being intervied by Mr David Mills, promotor of Premier Speedway Warrnambool, Chris payed credit to the skills he learnt from go karting from age 7 to 17 years, saying that racing in all different conditions being wet or dry and also racing with some very good competition has helped prepare him for speedway racing.

Chris hopes to one day follow in the foot steps of drivers like former kart racer Jamie Bricknell & Glen Saville who both race 410 Sprintcars at the highest level.
