Kinsman & Manson Dominant Againpress release Auckland's Daniel Kinsman and Christchurch's Scott Manson were again the dominant figures as this year's Right Karts Kartstars Rotax Max Challenge resumed at KartSport Auckland's Moselle Panel & Paint Raceway over the weekend.
In changeable conditions - which went from bitter cold and rain on Saturday to cool but sunny conditions on Sunday, Kinsman claimed his second round win in the premier Motorex 125cc Rotax Max Challenge class while Manson was again the (young) man to beat in Arai Formula Junior. It was a case of all change in Strata Networks' 125cc Rotax Max Heavy, however, as previous round winners Steven Currie and Aarron Cunningham had to make way for fellow Aucklander Shane Hodgson. Scott Fountain might have pipped him for the top spot in qualifying on Saturday but Hodgson was in a class of his own in the heats, Pre-Final and Final, winning the latter from Currie and new faces Daniel Sayles and Anthony Murch. With two more rounds to go things are still close points-wise in each class, Kinsman just nine points clear of round three class winner, fastest weekend qualifier and Final runner-up Kane Taylor in Motorex 125cc Rotax Max Light, Aaron Cunningham and Steven Currie sharing the lead just three points ahead of Shane Hodgson in Strata Networks 125cc Rotax Heavy and even Manson only 18 points ahead of weekend runner-up James Munro in Arai Formula Junior.
Only in the Masters class does the current points leader have anything like a safe lead, Steven Currie now 28 points proud of Brendon Hart with Garry Claxton third a further 16 points back The weekend's round was the fourth of six rounds of this year's Right Karts Kartstars Rotax Max Challenge with the fifth to be held in Hamilton later this month and the final to be contested at the new Rotorua track in September.
