Arrow Report From City of Melbourne Titles

press release

Matthew Wall lead the Arrow charge at the 2011 City of Melbourne Titles held at Port Melbourne Raceway, Melbourne on the 13th/14th of August.

Wall competed in both Clubman Heavy and Leopard Heavy, and was the only driver to successfully walk away with two class wins from the event. Lee Mitchener was second to Wall in Clubman Heavy aboard his Arrow, with the two Victorians never more than a kart length apart in each race.

Wall’s second victory in Leopard Heavy came a little easier, but the ten-time Australian champion had to drive masterfully to outgun his competitors.

Damon Strongman made a last lap move on fellow Arrow driver Jake Klein to steal victory with only a couple of corners remaining in Junior National Light. Chelsea Angelo rounded out the podium after showing the boys the way in qualifying posting the fastest time.

Strongman took out his second podium for the day when he finished behind reigning National Champion Anton DePasquale in Junior National Heavy.

The Rookies class was an intense battle between two future stars of karting, with Thomas Prascevic leading home South Australian Chase Wooley in second. Both drivers were the class act of the weekend, racing hard and fair throughout the course of the weekend.

Macauley Jones stole victory on the last lap of Clubman Light, overtaking the leading driver on the final bend to secure a memorable victory. Fastest qualifier Jordan Ford rounded out the podium in third position, after starting the final on the front row.

Both Rotax classes were taken out by Arrow drivers when reigning Australian Champion David Sera took out Rotax Light leading home Luke Rochford in third place. It was Sera’s first appearance in the all new X1E 30/32, and has put him in good stead leading into the upcoming Australian Titles being held in Geelong in early September.

Zeke Edwards was victorious in Rotax Heavy winning every race aboard the X1E 30/30. Other winners for Arrow Racing Karts were Chris Sanderson in Clubman Over 40’s and James Cornfoot in TaG Restricted.

Arrow Racing Karts’ next assignment will be the Rotax Nationals held at Geelong Kart Club on the 2nd - 4th of September.
