ThunderNats Not For Thunderdome

Matthew Wall has confirmed the proposed ThunderNats event at Calder Park will not take place on the Thunderdome.

“We had Jordie Ford out there in his Clubman recently, and it was just too rough” Wall explained to KartSportNews. “There was just one line where the kart didn’t scrape on the ground, and you can’t race in those conditions. It was worse than we first thought and we don’t want everyone’s karts destroyed.”

There are currently two other venue options being investigated; the Haunted Hills hillclimb circuit at Yallourn, and the race track at Broadford.

There will also be a date change to the first weekend in February 2012. “This was because the VKA would only allow the Rotax Pro Tour on the January long weekend, and I didn’t want our event to clash with that” Matt explained.

More information will be available soon.

Wall also confirmed the annual TaG Charity Enduro at Todd Road will be taking a sabbatical this year. “It was too close to too many state titles, as well as this event we’re organising” he said. It is, however, likely that another ‘special’ event will utilise the December 10 date.
