Free Freight To Kalgoorlie For KZ2/KF3 Drivers

There will be no freight charges for interstate competitors at the second annual Dash for Cash in Kalgoorlie. That’s the plan according to organiser Michael Patrizi.

To be run by the Eastern Goldfields Kart Club on November 4-5, the event will feature the ‘Rollasole Invitational’ for KZ2 ($10,000 cash prize) and ‘Meritus.Gp Cup’ for KF3 (2x day test in a Formula BMW at Sepang, also worth $10k).

“We are pleased to announce that for the KZ2 and KF3 competitors freight will be covered for their journey across the nullabour to what will be their big end of year event” Patrizi informed KartSportNews.

“The format is exciting and unique to this event. Heat three, the shootout and Final (over 30 laps) will all be held under lights. And there are massive prizes.”

“We are hoping to get 30-plus KZ2s as most of the current KZ2 drivers tell me they are coming and a few have already confirmed.”

Italian ace Roberto Toninelli won the event last year and is said to be coming back to defend the title.

Patrizi says that others set to compete in the senior gearbox category include Daniel Currey, Hayden Patrizi, Matt Wall, Jason Pringle, Jordie Lindstrom, Kyle Ensbey, Justin Ruggier, Macauley Jones, Lee Mitchener and Ben Van Ryt. “Several South Australian drivers have said yes, there are probably around 12 other WA drivers, plus another international waiting to confirm.”

KF3 will feature, amongst others, Jake Klarich, Joseph Mawson, Pierce Lehane, Jake Coleman and Anthony Martin plus another five from WA.

“The prize for juniors I believe is the biggest ever put up in Australia. This is no ordinary opportunity it’s a chance to make a career and follow the footsteps of myself and Daniel Ricciardo (now in Formula 1) by testing with a Top Asian team in Formula BMW. We both went through the Asian ranks before heading back to Europe and believe it’s the best chance for a young driver to make a career for themselves. Meritus is no normal junior team, they are bigger and more professional then most top-end touring car teams in Australia. To get a free test with them under their supervision alone is a big ticket on your CV. And you never know where it can take you.”

“I am very passionate for Karting and this is why I am involved with this event, Myself and Team Owner Peter Thompson want the best junior in Australia to win this so they can go on and make a career in motorsport. SIMPLE”

Pre-registrations are now open and are required so that freight can be properly organised - email organiser Michael Patrizi - info@michaelpatrizi.com
