Officials Cheat Death As Storm Hits Kalgoorlie

Officials and karters in Kalgoorlie were lucky to escape a wild storm that hit the Eastern Goldfields circuit today.

speedcafe.com reports that officials red-flagged a Rookies race just minutes before high winds destroyed the Race Control tower, spreading wreckage right across the track. More HERE.

Despite today’s setback, the club wants to assure everyone that their major event for the year, the ‘Dash for Cash’, featuring the RollaSole Invitational KZ2 race, will go ahead as planned.

"It is known as the 'Desiree Kinnae' tower named after a young driver who died in the early 90's in a car crash" Eastern Goldfields Kart Club Publicity Officer Hayley Littlely informed KartSportNews. "It was built 11 to 12 years ago and had stood many storms and a cyclone."
