Marr Ends Up 7th In Oz CIK

Young Wanganui karter Aaron Marr has ended his debut season in Australia's CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol Edge seventh overall in the Pro Junior/KF3 class.
The 15-year-old from Wanganui (NZ) was holding sixth place in the class points standings heading into the final round at Newcastle's Mount Sugarloaf Raceway over the weekend but was literally pipped at the post by young Australian driver Cameron Hill.

"It was always going to be hard because there weren't many points in it but I gave it my best shot. Unfortunately I lost a chain in the Pre-Final which meant I had to start the Final from the back of the grid. I made up some good places early on but then I was rear-ended and finishing 12th in the Final was not enough to stop Cameron taking sixth overall off me," Marr said from Sydney Airport this morning.
Despite just missing out on a place in the top six, Marr - who is the reigning CIK Trophy of New Zealand - presented by Paymark KF3 class champion - says he has thoroughly enjoyed his five trips across the Tasman this year and believes the experience he has gained competing against Australia's top young karters will stand him in good stead at The Thirsty Whale-sponsored KartSport New Zealand North Island Sprint Championships meeting in the Hawke's Bay this weekend.
"Yeah, it's been really good over here (in Australia) this year. I love the racing because it is so close. At home there are a couple of fast guys at the front but here there's much greater depth and everyone is in the top 10 is really quick."
The main titles at this year's CIK Stars of Karting series presented by Castrol Edge were won by Jake Spencer (Prolight), Tyler Greenbury (KZ2) and Pierce Lehane (KF3).
This year's CIK Stars of Karting series presented by Castrol Edge has been the strongest held in Australia in a number of years with over 80 competitors contesting the three core CIK classes (Prolight/KF1, Pro Gearbox/KZ2 and Pro Junior/KF3) and another 50 competing in the two support classes, Clubman and Junior National.
