Gracie's Senior Debut At This Weekend's Pro Tour

press release

Rapid young female Renee Gracie will commence her senior karting career at this weekend’s opening round of the Rotax Pro Tour at Canberra’s Fairburn Park Racing Complex.

16-year-old Gracie, dubbed ‘Devil Princess’ by her driver coach/ mechanic and former World Karting Champion, Ben George, will join a number of her junior competitors in making the progression to the Rotax Light Senior Division, where she will likely face extremely stiff competition from the outset.

“I’m looking forward to the move to seniors and we have chosen the Rotax Pro Tour in Canberra as my first event. I’ve raced a couple of times in Canberra and like the track a lot, while the club puts on an excellent weekend of racing.

“To celebrate my graduation to seniors my kart has a bold new ‘Devil Princess’ look and theme, and I would really like to thank Glenn Powles for his design work ... it certainly reflects the brand we are trying to promote and I love it.

“I’ve been training intensely in preparation for the move up, and the extra kart weight and different characteristics of the engine have taken a little bit of time to get used to, but the best way to learn is to get out there and get stuck into it.

“I know and expect the racing in seniors will be challenging and supremely competitive. There are so many top drivers with many state and national titles to their credit and they race hard and close, but I am sure I can be competitive in the field and will give it my absolute best.

“You know what they say - if you don’t want to race with the big boys, then don’t show up”

Gracie will arrive at Canberra fresh from meeting some of motorsport’s biggest stars, after attending the Armor All Gold Coast 600 V8 Supercar event at Surfers Paradise last weekend.

Gracie was shown around the entire V8 Supercar precinct by her managing agent Chris Jewell, and spent some time talking with her racing hero Craig Lowndes, along with many other big names in the sport - even managing to find her way into the Gold Coast Bulletin in the process.
