Aaron Borg to Represent Australia in Japan

press release

On Tuesday (November 1), 21 year old Aaron Borg will head to Japan to represent Australia in the All Japan Yamaha Championship being held on November 5-6. Aaron will be competing against 64 other competitors from Japan along with other International drivers from the likes of New Zealand.

Aaron won the opportunity to race in Japan, courtesy of winning this year’s Clubman Yamaha Challenge, a five-round national series which was run in conjunction with the CIK Stars of Karting series.

After the 3rd round, Aaron was a massive 50 points behind the leader but after an impressive drive in round four, where he won all but one race, Aaron entered the 5th and final round just 8 points behind. After finishing in the top 4 all weekend Aaron started the Final race just two points behind series leader, meaning that whoever finished in front of the other would be crowned champion.

The race lived up to expectations with the two fighting right down to the last lap. Ultimately, Aaron came out on top crossing the line in 4th position, in front of the series leader, which was enough to seal the championship and secure his trip to Japan.

Commenting after the race Aaron said, “To win this series and be able to compete in Japan is absolutely unreal! It was a really tough race, especially the last lap, but I’ve been told that it was great to watch.”

This will be the first time that Aaron competes overseas and is one that he is really looking forward to, “I’ve always wanted to race karts overseas and I’ve got to thank Yamaha Australia and the CIK Stars of Karting series for making this possible. It’s going to be a very different experience over there, but we will definitely be giving it our all and going for a solid result!”

Aaron has a great team around him and understands that he would not be here if it wasn’t for their support through each and every race meeting, “I need to give a big thanks to John Pasquale for all his help throughout the series and over the years, as none of this would have been possible without his help and support. Also Colin Hurst, my dad and family, Tim Craig, Paul Rietdyk, Hurst Race Engines, Top Kart and Kart 1 Racing.”
