Season Review: Alex Manglass

CRG America Team driver Alex Manglass closed out the 2011 racing season with some impressive numbers. Utilizing a Joe White Racing powered CRG, Manglass claimed a pair of championships this season and an astounding fourteen pole positions on his way to more than twenty heat race and main event victories.

Competing at the New Jersey Sprint Series (NJSS), North East Shifter Series (NESS) and select Florida Winter Tour (FWT) and New Jersey Motorsports Park (NJMP) club events, Manglass proved to be a dominant driver in the Intercontinental C (ICC) category.
Starting the year off at the Florida Winter Tour round in Orlando, Manglass was a model of consistency on Saturday where he claimed an outside front row starting position in qualifying. The CRG driver continued with a second place run in the prefinal and main events. Sunday would prove to be a little tougher for the shifter driver as a mechanical failure in qualifying would force him to start from the tail of the field. Improving from 13th to fifth in the prefinal, Manglass drove to his second podium result of the weekend taking home a solid third place result.
The New Jersey Sprint Series would be a series of dominance for Manglass. Entering only seven events, Manglass scored seven pole positions, six heat race wins and seven main event victories on his way to claiming the overall series title.
Manglass was also seen at four North East Shifter Series events in the 2011 racing season. Just as he did in the New Jersey Sprint Series, Manglass claimed four pole positions and four heat race wins throughout the year. Two main event victories were also added to his impressive resume and it would have been more if it weren't for mechanical failures along the way.
Manglass would sweep each and every New Jersey Motorsports Park club event he entered. Taking each pole position, heat race win and final victory, Manglass would secure second in the overall series title chase with only competing in three events.
"Alex was one of the few dominant drivers in the north east karting market," expressed Team Manager Dave Davies. "Though Alex did not compete in as many events as he would have liked to in 2011, he proved that he can still get behind the wheel and stand atop the podium on any given weekend.
