Pole Sitters Decided For SA State Championships

from karting.net.au

After two days of frantic racing, held in very changeable weather conditions, the pole sitters for the finals in the 2011 South Australian Championships at the Monarto Karting Complex have been decided.

Fresh from a double victory in Tasmania last weekend, Victorian Anton de Pasquale will start on pole position in both the Junior National Heavy and Clubman categories tomorrow.

In both categories, de Pasquale will be joined on the front row by local ace Todd Hazelwood.

The Wooley brothers will both start on pole position in their respective categories – Chase Wooley in Midgets and Rhys Wooley in Rookies.

New South Wales driver Daniel Stein continued his dominance of Leopard Heavy and as a result will start on pole position for tomorrow’s all-important final.  In the Rotax Heavy category, Stein was upstaged by Queenslander Kris Walton for the win.

After a frantic event it was Leigh Nicoloau who proved victorious in the Clubman Heavy ranks, unfortunately for defending champion Shay Mayes his race ended in turn one and he will be forced to start from the rear of the grid.

Remo Luciani proved superior in the Clubman Over 40’s ranks while Cian Fothergill led home Aidan Wright in the Leopard Light pre-final.

Local driver Luke Marquis made a last lap pass for the win the Junior National Light pre-final ahead of Tyler Morrison, Bryce Fullwood and Jordan Boys.

In the fastest junior category, Junior Max, it was second-generation racer Thomas Randle who proved superior in the pre-final over Marquis and Boys.

After setting the fastest qualifying time, Nick Scudds has endured a disastrous run during the racing in clubman Super Heavy, and has failed to finish a lap.  The pre-final was won by Scott Simpson ahead of Mount Gambier’s John Dankowski.

Jaie Robson won the Rotax Light pre-final over Macauley Jones and Trent Grubel.
