Big Aussie Interest For 2012 CIK Trophy of New Zealand

press release

With the New Year just around the corner KartSport Wellington and KartSport New Zealand have been working hard to ensure the Mi Sedaap 2012 CIK Trophy of New Zealand event is the biggest and best yet.

The Mi Sedaap 2012 CIK Trophy of New Zealand is set to be contested at CRC Raceway, Kaitoke, Upper Hutt on 27-29 January 2012. This event is the premier international kart event of the year and doubles as the first round of the ProKart series for 2012.

A huge amount of interest has been generated from Australia with firm interest particularly in all three of the CIK classes. With this in mind we need to ensure a top line up of New Zealand drivers so our Australian colleagues don’t have it all their own way!

The KZ2 (senior 125cc, 6 speed gearbox) KF2 (senior 125cc) and KF3 (junior 125cc) classes will contest their respective CIK Trophy of New Zealand Championships. KZ2, KF3 and KZ2 Masters results will also count as the first round of 2012 ProKart Series (a 5 round series contested throughout the North Island). Also four support classes will compete for the prestigious KartSport New Zealand Challenge Cups.

Previous winners include Wade Cunningham - 2003 CIK-FIA World Karting Champion and now Indycar driver, Jonny Reid A1GP driver, Chris vander Drift – GP2 driver, Brendon Hartley F1 test driver, Mitch Evans GP3 driver plus Shane van Gisbergen - V8 Supercar driver.

The Mi Sedaap CIK Trophy of New Zealand is one of the premier events on the national KartSport calendar and will attract 100 plus drivers from all over the country.
