daniel morcombe red t-shirtThe inaugural ‘Harrington Doyle Racing – Race for Daniel Day’ is more than just another kart race meeting; it will be yet another opportunity to keep a clear focus on Harm Prevention, Child Safety Awareness and Fun in our communities.

Sunshine Coast boy, Daniel Morcombe went missing eight years ago, aged 13, and a recent arrest in his case led to a search for his remains in muddy bushland near Beerwah, on the Sunshine Coast. Daniel was abducted while waiting for a bus on a busy highway in his local area just before Christmas in 2003. Daniel’s parents in 2005, together with local community leaders, collaborated to establish the Daniel Morcombe Foundation to promote Child Safety Awareness.

“Being born in Gympie, I grew up in the relative safety and freedom that the Mary Valley provided in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland”, said Harrington Doyle Racing’s Craig Doyle.

“When Kym Coomber, President of the Cooloola Coast Kart Club recently wrote to me to tell me about a terrific concept her Club had for a ‘Race for Daniel Day’ to raise funds for the Daniel Morcombe Foundation Inc. it was very easy for us to say yes and be proactively involved.

“With our HDR Team Partners on board, together with some other terrific event sponsors, I expect that Kym and the team at the Cooloola Coast Kart Club will most certainly make this into an amazing Community & Sporting event in my home town”.
