Even Hotter Fujitsu 'Cool' Driver Program For 2012

The Fujitsu 'Cool' Driver Program will continue in 2012. Up and coming young drivers in Karting and Formula Ford will again be the recipients of career development and financial support from Fujitsu General (Aust.) Pty Limited.

For 2012, the support of Australia's karters will run deeper still, with applications open to any driver over the age of seven.

Terms, conditions and the application forms for the 2012 Fujitsu 'Cool' Driver Program will be published at www.velocitygp.com.au at 9:00am on Sunday, January 1.

2011 Summary:

Seven karters represented the 'Cool' Driver program and all acquitted themselves well. Todd Hazelwood, Joey Mawson and Damon Strongman all claimed state title wins during 2011, but nobody could top Mawson's stellar year, which culminated in a brilliant runner-up result in Juniors at the Rotax World Final in Abu Dhabi - an event Fujitsu also provided additional support for.

2011 saw four national Formula Ford drivers forming part of the youth development program, with Cameron Waters claiming the Australian Championship. As the highest placed Fujitsu 'Cool' Driver, Waters recently enjoyed a test day with V8 Supercar Team, Fujitsu Racing/ Garry Rogers Motorsport, while third-placed Nick Foster completed a successful weekend of Carrera Cup competition at Sydney Olympic Park, with added support coming from Fujitsu.

The National Marketing Manager for Fujitsu General Australia, Mr Milton Kaloudis is delighted with how the first 'Cool' Driver year has panned out, while also extremely enthusiastic about the year ahead.

"What a remarkable year our Fujitsu Cool Drivers have enjoyed. The program kicked off in 2011 with one of the key objectives of finding talented young drivers, supporting them financially and also offering them a clearer pathway to V8 Supercars.

"We were very proud to be making that commitment and offering our support, but by the end of the year, it was the Fujitsu 'Cool' Drivers who had done us proud. Arriving at the decision to continue the program into 2012 was a very easy one and we look forward to another year of talented young drivers representing Fujitsu while achieving amazing success on the track.”
