CIK Homologation List 2012-2017

The CIK has published the list of new chassis, brakes and bodywork for the 2012-2017 homologation period. Almost 100 new homologations were carried out, plus another 45 re-homologations of products that expire on December 31, 2011.

There are a number of new makes in the chassis homologation, including a number from car racing teams:

  • Lotus Karts (manufactured by Wildkart)
  • Vorton (manufactured by OTK)
  • ART Grand Prix (made by Emme Racing)
  • Bremer (made by PCR)
  • Velox (the chassis range of the engine Manufacturer SGM/Severi)

Add to this two brands already seen in 2011 (although strictly speaking they cannot claim the status of an official make): Praga (manufactured by Intrepid) and Formula K/FK (Andrea Bertolini’s Team has taken the option to split manufacturing between two companies, Parolin making the Formula K chassis and CRG the FK).

Most of these new makes will directly be involved in the CIK-FIA Championships in 2012, including as suppliers of chassis within the framework of the “U18” World Championship.

A number of older names have returned: NewTaifun Kart (by Thomas Unterkircher), Kali Kart (by CRG) and Italcorse (by DAM), familiar names that enjoyed glory in the 70s, 80s and 90s respectively.

It is an interesting read to see how many different brands are actually manufactured by the same firm.

Arrow's X1E (manufactured by Drew Price Engineering) is the only Australian kart on the homologation list, and Arrow's brake from 2006-2011 has been re-approved for another three years.
