press release

Rising Australian motorsport star, Nick Foster, will return to his karting roots in Melbourne this weekend as a part of his preparation for his campaign in this year's Porsche City Index Carrera Cup Australia championship.

Foster, who was a multiple-time state champion and runner-up in the CIK Trophy of New Zealand during his junior karting days, will compete aboard a kart prepared by Paul Gallo and Kristian Hanley in this weekend’s Rotax Pro Tour event at Victoria’s Port Melbourne circuit.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back into a serious kart race and thank Paul and Kristian for the opportunity,” said Foster, who will compete in the Money Choice-backed Porsche during 2012.

“I’ll be using the kart that Daniel Rochford finished second at the Rotax Nationals in last year, so it’s a good piece of gear and to race against some of the top Rotax drivers should be a lot of fun.

“With the ability to only have a few test days in the Porsche ahead of the season opener, racing an event such as this will be a great way to ‘blow out the cobwebs’ and prepare for the season ahead.”

The 50-strong Rotax Light field, that Foster will line-up in, will see the likes of 12-time National Champion Dave Sera, reigning Pro Junior (KF3) CIK Stars of Karting Series Champion Pierce Lehane, World Rotax Finals runner-up Joseph Mawson and female hotshot Renee Gracie on the grid.

Practice will be held on Friday ahead of qualifying and heat races on Saturday. The pre-final and finals will be contested on Sunday.

The Port Melbourne Karting Complex is located on the corner of Todd Road and Cook Street, Port Melbourne. Admission is free for spectators.
