Arrow On Top At Pro Tour

press release

Arrow Racing Karts have started 2012 with a bang scoring a race win and multiple podiums at the largest Rotax Pro Tour event on record with 170 entries across six classes at the Go-Kart Club of Victoria, Port Melbourne on the 28th & 29th of January.

After two rounds of the Rotax Pro Tour, Arrow Karts (146) lead the way in the Manufacturers Cup over Tony Kart (139) and Intrepid (132).

Melbourne’s Liam McLellan (right) put his track knowledge to best use when he was victorious in the highly competitive Junior Max field which attracted nearly 40 drivers.

The CC Racing driver qualified second, then swept all three heat races to start on pole for the pre final. After leading at stages throughout the pre final, McLellan settled for second. The beginning of the final saw McLellan jump to the lead and dictate terms, eventually finishing over two seconds in front of his nearest competitor.

Aaron Rintoul recorded his second podium in succession at the Rotax Pro Tour finishing second behind reigning national champion Troy Woolston in Rotax Heavy. Rintoul was always amongst the leading drivers over the weekend and found himself in the lead on several occasions but had to settle for second in the final.

Steve Johnson made a return to competitive karting and finished second in the final of Rotax Over 40’s. Johnson had earlier started the weekend on a high by winning two of the three heat races aboard Arrow’s X1E CIK 30/30 kart.

David Sera finished third in Rotax Light which attracted the highest amount of entries with 51. Arrow Karts had a special guest for the weekend with current New Zealand champion Daniel Connor making the trek across the Tasman to compete in Rotax Light. After qualifying just outside the top five, Connor found himself battling for the top positions throughout the heat races and after an early incident in the final he finished just outside the top ten.

The Rotax Pro Tour will now move onto the Gympie circuit located north of Brisbane on the 24th/25th of March where Arrow will look to hold their spot at the top of the Manufacturers Cup.
