Tasmanian Statewide Series - Round 2 Preview

from E O'Connor

After a fantastic first round of the 2012 Tasmanian State-wide series at the CHKC track in Smithton, held in wonderful sunny  weather and a great atmosphere, the next round is being held at the home of the Southern Tasmanian Kart Club in Orielton, just outside Hobart (C350) this coming weekend.

With its main sponsor Raine and Horne Real Estate Hobart again renewing a long association with the club, and a host of local businesses getting behind this year club racing calendar.

With a very strong field of over 120 entries from all over the state and a track with some fantastic twists and turns, fun and great racing is guaranteed to all involved.

The STKC have been working hard over the last few months to again improve the facilities for all visitors, and a big thanks to all the members, committee and officials who will make this event possible.  With the possibility of some showers over the weekend it will be a weekend of changing set-ups and some daring driving that will lead us to the half way stage of the States first titles series.

Racing starts on Saturday with the finals on Sunday, and with many categories still wide open it will be a classic weekend of karters fighting for individual race wins and overall championship points and that RED plate.

In Cadets we will have a couple of home town heroes in Brock Lamont racing the new Corsa Kart, and  Declan Sherburd will take it to Lachlan Dalton and Mitchell Kerrison.

In Rookies a four way fight is guaranteed between Tayla Heath in the Wyllie Tiles Tonykart, Brock Evans and Sam Gala & Zevie Eisentraut who will be the benchmark on a track he has made his own over the last year.

In Junior National Light  it's wide open with any number of racers capable to take it to the leaders. In heavies Keenan Slater will have to compete with an on form Daniel Newman and Junior Club-member of the year Tom "TC" Clark.

In Seniors, Kelsey Sapwell has shown her ability to race at any level again with a great result in Smithton, will again take it to the boys and show 'em who's boss.

In Over 40 pro Michael Vaughan will again try to get over Steve Crocker and in Super Heavy Steve Wrigley will again have the Lee's and the other racers chasing hard.
