Hays Switches From Tony Kart to Energy For CIK Series

Just two weeks ahead of the opening round, Queensland karter Chris Hays will make the switch from Tony Kart to Energy for his tilt at the Pro Gearbox title in the 2012 CIK Stars of Karting series.

Hays, who has competed aboard Tony Kart chassis for eight years, announced last night that he will be joining Adam Graham's new Energy Corse team.

For the sixth year in succession, Hays will enjoy the backing of telecommunications giant Vodafone for his 2012 campaign.

“It’s great to have the continued support of Vodafone as I embark on a new challenge with the team at Energy,” said Hays.

“I’ve really enjoyed my eight years with Tony Kart. Moving to Energy was probably the biggest decision that I’ve had to make in my karting career because Greg Smith and the guys (at Tony Kart) have been fantastic to me over the years."

Hays hopes to have his first test of the new kart this weekend at his home track in Ipswich.

“It has been a bit of a rush to get a handful of karts out ahead of the major events, which start with the CIK Stars of Karting Series later this month" Graham said.

"It looks likely that we’ll have three or four karts on the grid come round two of the series."
