AKA Karters Welcome At Kiwi Nationals

Australian karters are welcome to enter the 2012 New Zealand National Sprint Kart Championships. Traditionally, both the AKA and the Kiwi Nationals took place at the same time, over the Easter long weekend. However, with this year's 50th Anniversary edition of the AKA event running in July (at Hidden Valley, NT), the opportunity arises for Aussies to cross the ditch and lock horns with the Kiwis at Easter.

It offers a unique chance for a top driver, or drivers, to grab an Australian and a New Zealand championship in the same year.

"AKA A and B grade Licenced competitors, with a valid Trans Tasman Visa, are welcome to enter" KartSport New Zealand Development and Administration Manager, Robert Hutton, informed KartSportNews.

"Already a number of Australian competitors have made plans to cross the Tasman for this event."

The MG Tyres sponsored championship will be run at KartSport Hamilton’s Agrisea Raceway, adjacent to Hamilton airport on the North Island.

"This 865m track is the fastest in New Zealand and includes major elevation changes" Hutton added.

"It's a great Club with great facilities and track, and has been the venue of some great racing at previous National Championships and CIK Trophy of NZ events in the past."
