Top Gun Team Set For CIK 2012

press release

After achieving some excellent results, and gaining valuable experience, throughout 2011 in Top Gun Racing colours, the team’s drivers are all set for an even bigger year in 2012.

Competing in the Yamaha challenge will be Daniel Nolan (Tony Kart/MG/Yamaha) is returning for his second year with the Troy Hunt-led team and after making the top ten shootout at the recent Brian Farley Memorial he will be looking forward to some competitive results throughout the year.

For the Pro Junior (KF3) class Jake Coleman (CRG/Dunlop/Vortex) will be lining up again with the Top Gun Racing Team as he aims to chase the title after finishing last year very strongly. Last year Coleman improved significantly on 2010 making more shootouts and grabbing his first podium.

Coleman will be pushed by his new Top Gun team mate Joseph Burton-Harris (Exprit/Dunlop/Vortex). Burton-Harris came on board for the final round of 2011 with instant improvement, as a result he will be looking to challenge his team-mate to etch his name on the Jon Targett Trophy (awarded to the Pro Junior Champion).

“It’s great to have two drivers of this calibre both capable of fighting for the championship. I’m looking forward to using both drivers to push each other and pool their information to get the best result possible for the both of them,” said Team Principal Troy Hunt.

In Pro Light (KF1) Jake Parsons (Kosmic/Dunlop/IAME, above) will be running his second year in the class and following a competitive run in the CIK Trophy of New Zealand and after really working on his fitness Jake will be looking to really give the championship a shake in 2012. Parsons is also looking to compete in a few events overseas this year so hopefully he will be able to bring some experience back with him and continually improve throughout the championship.

“Jake had a tough season last year but I think with reduction in the class weight he should have a much better year. In 2011 he was strong on new tyres but suffered with the weight as the tyres wore. He did a great job at the recent Trophy of New Zealand so I will be hoping for some strong results throughout the year,” added Hunt.

The Top Gun Racing team will have their first outing at next weekend (February 25/26) at the opening round of the CIK Stars of Karting Series presented by Castrol EDGE at South Australia’s Bolivar Raceway.
