Saturday would greet Guenette and his J3 Competition team with relatively cool and cloudy conditions. Putting his Kosmic kart in third place during morning qualifications, Guenette improved to second during the 16-lap prefinal race.

Holding onto second at the wave of the green for the day’s final, Guenette kept his position until falling back to third by lap eight. Maintaining his third place position for the remaining laps, Guenette went on to make his fourth podium appearance in the TaG Senior category at the 2012 FWT.

Back on track for Sunday’s events, the cool weather from Saturday turned over to looming showers, with changing track conditions keeping Guenette and his J3 team on their toes. Improving his Saturday qualifying position by one place, Guenette would line up on the outside front row for the prefinal, and maintain that position during the race. Moving to the pole position after the prefinal winner did not make it to grid on time, Guenette ran uncontested and led every lap to take his first senior win by more than three seconds. Guenette was not only seen topping the blocks for his victory in the afternoon podium presentation, as he was also honoured with the Vice-Champion title in the TaG Senior category on the strength of his win, three second place finishes and one third place run.

“I have to thank everyone at J3 Competition for helping me be so successful during my rookie season to date,” noted Alex. “Their expert knowledge, guidance and the strength of the Kosmic chassis really were the keys to my success. Earning vice-champion honours in my first year of senior competition is very exciting, and I hope it is just the first of many to come. I must also thank my parents and sister for all their support. I still have one more weekend of Florida Winter Tour racing to go, and as always I can’t wait to get back on track to now fight for my second senior win!”

Guenette will finish off his 2012 FWT campaign this coming weekend at the same Ocala Gran Prix facility for the final International Rotax Max Challenge event of the series. Coming off his superb run in the during the Formula Kart weekend, Guenette will be vying to add to his senior win tally as he takes on the ultra-competitive Rotax Senior category.
