Open Class To Feature At Carnival of Karts

Over 20 'Open Class' karts are expected at the Tiger Kart Club's inaugural Carnival of Karts meeting next month. The category will be a feature event on the program which will only offer 12 classes.

"WA is one of the last places in Australia running this class where basically anything with an engine is able to compete" the club's Media & Promotions Officer Sean Sean Phillips advised KartSportNews.

"With such a strong KZ-2 field running in WA now, plus the many 200 Supers and the new 250 Super of Wayne Bell (twin X-30’s) we are expecting more than 20 of these awesome machines to greet the starter.

"The guys are racing for $3000 cash and getting to see these karts going down the straight at 130kmh should be a real sight.

"Following on from the clubs successful hosting of the 2010 Nationals, we decided we wanted to offer karters something different to a typical open meeting" Phillips continued.

"Our plan was to address some of the issues that karters have been concerned about, mainly, too many classes, not enough racing laps and in some cases standing around for up to 4 hours between races."

The event takes place at Cockburn International Raceway (and will run in the reverse direction) on April 28th and 29th. Supp Regs and more info on the Race Calendar page.
