Open Performance Sprint Karts For Winton Superkart Meet

The 'Carnival of Karts' in Perth is not the only upcoming event to offer an 'Open Performance' category. Winton on May 13 will be the opening round of the Victorian Kings of KZ2 series and a round of the Victorian Superkart Club's series - plus the Winton Karting Grand Prix.

The WKGP is being put together by Matt Wall and will be for KZ2, DD2, Twin Rotax/Leopard, Stock Hondas "and anything else out there".

"The only catch is that you must run a clutch and must use pump fuel and a sprint kart frame" Wall explained.

After practice and qualifying, there will be 2 x 8 lap heats, then a 30 lap final, during which there is a compulsory pitstop to change the left rear tyre. This will be performed in the old Winton pitlane on the inside of the track.

"Weights will be AKA spec and to race you'll need to join the Superkart Club on the day. The entry fee of $200 includes club membership and insurance etc."

Further information and questions via the KartBook thread HERE.

"Any Junior Rotax, Rotax Light/Heavy or Over 40s, you guys can race on the same day, but under a different format" Wall added.

"It is something very different to race at Winton. I reccommend it to anyone out there to try it."
