CRG Team Report - Sarno WSK

A good chassis is effective in all conditions, in dry and in wet weather. For CRG, this statement proved correct at Sarno, where the first 2012 WSK Euro Series meeting was held.
During the races, the circuit of the Naples region (Italy) was flooded by downpours that put karts, drivers and teams to the test. But that did not stop CRG chassis and Maxter engines from showing some great performances. Alex Palou (CRG Racing Team) dominated the KF3 final, Phillip Orcic (Renda Motorsport) won in KZ2, while Jonathan Thonon (CRG/Maxter-Tecsav) was one of the protagonists in the KZ1 class.
KZ1: Thonon Masters the Situation
The weekend started particularly well for CRG in the timed qualifying session, with five chassis in the first 12, including Davide Forè and Jonathan Thonon in 3rd and 4th place respectively. In the pouring rain, the most inspired was Thonon. On Saturday, he conquered an excellent third place in Final 1. The following day, he brilliantly won the two qualifying heats, preceding quite a few talented rivals. Although the start of the race was not favourable for the Belgian driver, he managed to finish 4th despite all difficulties - he had crossed the finish line third, but was inflicted a penalty.
KZ2: Honour to Private Drivers
Two drivers with CRG-TM karts conquered the podium on Sunday afternoon: the Canadian Phillip Orcic (supported by Renda Motorsport) put in an extraordinary performance and climbed onto the top step of the podium, while Daniele Delli Compagni (Galiffa Kart) climbed up from 8th to 3rd in the span of 15 laps. This excellent result was completed by Jordon Lennox-Lamb's 6th behind the wheel of a factory Maxter. Orcic, who had already set the pole on Saturday, has now taken the leadership of the WSK Euro Series standings.
KF2: Go LH!
There were many drivers wearing LH Racing Team colours among the front runners at Sarno. This entity of the CRG group was worthily represented by the Briton Tom Joyner and the Dane Christian Sorensen. Joyner won two heats and was third in the pre-final, but unfortunately the final end badly despite his evident competitiveness.
KF3: Palou, Master of the Wet Track
Alex Palou dominated the final from the beginning to the end and finished with the fastest lap during the race and an incredible lead of almost 13 seconds. Since the young Spaniard joined the CRG Racing Team, he has continued to improve his performances. In this hard fought series, he conquered a deserved victory, as proven by his leadership position in the heats, in the first qualifying session and in the pre-final. He could count again on the excellent BMB engines prepared by KVS. Performances by Victor Baptista, Rory Cuff, Leonardo Tano (AB Motorsport) and especially Zachary Claman De Melo, who staged a remarkable recovery up to 9th place, are also worth mentioning.
