Bray Returns To Defend US Kart Title

press release

Kiwi international Daniel Bray has returned to the United States to defend his 2011 SuperKarts USA Pro Tour title and will contest the first two rounds of the 2012 series at the MG Tyres SpringNationals meeting at Phoenix in Arizona this weekend.

Aucklander Bray claimed the series' premier S1 class title at the season-ending SKUSA SuperNationals meeting in Las Vegas late last year and heads into this weekend's double-header meeting with his favourite status enhanced by his recent KZ2 class win at KartSport New Zealand's Sprint Nationals meeting at Hamilton over the Easter weekend.

The 24-year-old will run GP karts and Honda CR125 engines for the San Francisco-based Aluminos team and expects defending his 2011 title will be harder than it was earning it, particularly at the double-header rounds this weekend in Phoenix and in July at the Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City.

"Both are tracks I've yet to run on and this year I know of at least 10 guys who have moved up to S1 from S2 this year so the grids are going to be bigger and the depth of talent across the field deeper."

Last year Bray won the first and second rounds of the 2011 series then finished second at the third and fourth and third at the final.
